2008 Schedule of Events

This schedule shows folks who didn't make it to the show just what they missed.  We are currently working on the 2009 schedule and will post that closer to the '09 show.

The show doesn't officially open until Saturday but there are open meetings and layout tours beginning Friday.

Friday, March 14th

4-9 p.m.  Dealers set-up in exhibit halls

7 p.m.    O Scale Kings Meeting, moderated by George Wallace.   This is a group of O Scalers promoting O Scale 2 rail.

8-9 p.m. Proto 48 Meeting, moderated by Jim Canter

4 layout tours available for viewing

Saturday, March 15th

8-9 a.m.  Dealers set-up in exhibit halls

9-5 p.m.  Show open to the public

10-2 p.m.  Model Contest admissions accepted and popular votes cast

1-2 p.m.  Weathering and Painting Clinic, presented by Jim Canter of Canter Rail Service, jcanternkp@sbcglobal.net.  

2-2:45 p.m.  Model Contest room closed for judging.

2-2:45 p.m.  O Scale Roundtable Discussion Group, moderated by Mike Hill and Joe Giannovario of O Scale Trains Magazine.  Come and hear what's the latest from the importers and manufacturers and have the opportunity share the consumers point of view.

2:45-5 p.m. Model Contest room back open for viewing.

3-4 p.m.  Etched Brass Kits clinic- What They Are and How to Put Them Together.  Presented by Glenn Guerra of Mullet River Model Works, www.mulletrivermodelworks.com, and Mike Calvert of Gilmaur Models, www.mike.calvert.btinternet.co.uk.  Glenn and Mike will present the tools and techniques for forming the metal, assembling the kits, and even provide hands-on soldering tips and assistance for those in attendence.

4 p.m.  Model Contest winners announced and prizes given

5 p.m.  Show closes for evening

7-8:30 p.m.  Computer Generated Casting Masters-Intro   to Photo Etching Artwork Clinic, presented by Bill Brisco of Pacific Locomotive Works, www.pacificlocomotiveworks.com .  Bill will show you how to create parts on a computer, export them to a file, and how they are built on a wax 3-D printer.  These parts are then sent to a foundry and cast into brass masters.  Additionally, he will show you the steps he takes to generate artwork for Photo Etching, in particular Lightweight Passenger Cars.  This is the first time we've offered an evening clinic here a the Chicago O Scale Show.  Come spend some time with Bill; it's open to all attendees of the show!

Sunday, March 16th

9-2 p.m.  Show open to the public

11-12 p.m.  Basic TMCC (Train Master Command Control) Q&A Clinic, presented by Ed Goldin of Goldin Hands, www.goldinhands.com.  Bring your TMCC questions to Ed and he'll answer them, as well as provide an overview of the benefits of TMCC and how it works.
